OGG Vorbis Audio
Format sourceOGG Vorbis is an open-source, royalty-free lossy audio format. It generally offers better quality than MP3 at equivalent bitrates and is commonly used in gaming, open-source software, and web audio.
Opus Audio
Format cibleOpus is a versatile, open-source audio codec optimized for both speech and music at very low bitrates. It is the standard for WebRTC voice calls and excels at real-time communication.
Pourquoi convertir OGG en OPUS
Passer de OGG à OPUS garantit une compatibilité immédiate sur tous vos appareils et logiciels tout en conservant les atouts de OGG Vorbis Audio dans un conteneur Opus Audio universel.
COMMENT CONVERTIR
OGG → OPUS
Provide the audio file
Drag the OGG onto the uploader. Files up to 25 MB run on the free tier without registration; paid plans go up to 2 GB.
ffmpeg handles the conversion
Our ffmpeg-based pipeline reads sample rate and channel layout, then writes a matching OPUS with ID3 tags intact.
Save the output
Click to download the OPUS. Batch uploads are bundled into a ZIP for single-click retrieval.
Cas d'usage courants
OGG Points forts
- Completely royalty-free — no patent worries for encoders or decoders.
- Container is streaming-friendly — useful for internet radio.
- Native support in HTML5 <audio>, every major Linux distro, and most audio tools.
- Can multiplex any number of tracks (audio, video, text) in one file.
- Mature tooling via libvorbis, libopus, and FFmpeg.
Limites
- Apple and Microsoft avoided Ogg historically — iOS and Safari only added Opus support recently.
- Hardware decoder support is rare — encoding for battery-constrained devices (phones) still favors AAC.
- Confusing naming: ".ogg" could be Vorbis, Opus, Speex, or FLAC.
OPUS Points forts
- Best-in-class quality across the entire bitrate range.
- Royalty-free and patent-free.
- Ultra-low latency — suitable for live voice and music.
- Handles speech and music equally well — no need to switch codecs.
- Mandatory codec in WebRTC, so supported in every browser by design.
Limites
- Very low hardware decoder adoption — software-only on most phones.
- Older platforms (legacy Windows apps, old cars) may not play .opus files.
- Container semantics confusing — Opus lives inside Ogg, WebM, or MP4.

Qualité et compatibilité
Notre pipeline préserve la netteté, la mise en page, l’encodage UTF-8 et les métadonnées lors de la conversion de OGG en OPUS.
Conseils pour de meilleurs résultats
- Match the output bitrate to your use case, not to the source file's bitrate. If the original Vorbis file was encoded at 128 kbps for music, 96 kbps Opus will sound essentially identical and save roughly 25% in file size. Do not re-encode at a higher bitrate than the source — you will only inflate the file without recovering any information the Vorbis encoder discarded.
- Check the source sample rate before converting. Vorbis supports arbitrary sample rates; Opus internally uses 48 kHz. If your workflow is sample-rate-sensitive (for example, audio synchronized to video at exactly 44100 Hz), verify that the resampling to 48 kHz does not introduce timing drift in your player or editor. In practice this is handled correctly by compliant decoders, but some older game engines and DAW import routines have known issues with Opus at 48 kHz when the project is set to 44.1 kHz.
- If your OGG file contains chapter marks or seek points embedded via OGG skeleton or Ogg CUESHEET comment tags, those structures are not carried over automatically during a straightforward re-encode. If chapter navigation matters for your use case — audiobooks, long-form podcasts — note the chapter timestamps before converting and re-embed them in the output Opus file using a tool that supports Opus chapter metadata explicitly.
