A história

COMO NASCEU O
FORMATO MUSE.

Muse is an Emacs minor mode and its associated markup format, created by Michael Olson in 2004. Like Org-mode, Muse is a plain-text markup with export targets — HTML, LaTeX, PDF, DocBook. Unlike Org-mode, Muse stayed focused on authoring: no agenda views, no task tracking, just clean writing-to-output.

Org-mode eventually absorbed Muse’s mindshare within the Emacs community. Today Muse is effectively deprecated — Olson himself acknowledges Org-mode covers the same ground with vastly more features. Legacy .muse files exist in long-running Emacs users’ archives.

CURIOSIDADES E
FATOS INTERESSANTES.

01

Michael Olson acknowledged by 2010 that Org-mode had surpassed Muse in feature scope — Muse development slowed dramatically.

02

Muse shipped with Emacs-for-Muse syntax highlighting and a simple authoring mode.

03

Muse and Org-mode share similar ideals (plain text → multi-format output) but diverged in scope dramatically.

04

Muse files can be converted to Org-mode with minimal scripting — the syntax overlap is high.

05

Legacy Muse documentation still exists as a reminder of Emacs' marketplace-of-markup era.

VANTAGENS E
LIMITAÇÕES.

Vantagens

  • Simple authoring markup.
  • Multi-format export.
  • Emacs-native.

Limitações

  • Superseded by Org-mode.
  • Tiny ecosystem.
  • No active development.

Perguntas frequentes sobre MUSE

Perguntas frequentes

MUSE (Emacs Muse) is a document formato used to store paginated text, com optional formatoting, tables, images, hyperlinks, headers e footers. It sits no documents & text family e is tipicamente associated com a specific office suite ou publishing pipeline that defined the formato e ships the canonical reader.

Modern office suites — Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages — abrir most MUSE arquivos com reasonable fidelity. If your installed software does not support MUSE, converter to DOCX ou PDF first usando KaijuConverter; both abrir in virtually every reader, including grátis online viewers.

Upload the MUSE to KaijuConverter e pick DOCX, PDF, ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown, ou plain text. Our pipeline runs LibreOffice headlessly plus pandoc para text formatoos — the same engines behind profissional document pipelines. Styles, tables, images, e hyperlinks survive the conversion intact.

Sim, para um alta degree. padrão fonts, headings, lists, tables, images, hyperlinks e page structure transfer cleanly. Custom fonts substitute para o closest match if not embedded; obscure layout features unique to MUSE (frames, legacy macros) may flatten to static content no target formato.
