Quality & Compatibility
This is a one-way flattening with two real losses. Selectable text and embedded fonts become baked-in pixels, so nothing stays searchable, copyable, or re-editable, and crisp vector edges acquire faint aliasing once rasterized. JPG's lossy DCT compression then adds blocky artifacts and color fuzz, worst around sharp black-on-white text and thin lines; chroma subsampling muddies fine colored detail. JPG has no alpha, so any transparency is composited onto white. Rendering happens at 150 DPI by default, fine for screen but soft if you later print or zoom hard. PDF bookmarks, hyperlinks, form fields, and layers are all discarded; each page exports as its own JPG.
Tips for Best Results
- Bump the render DPI to 300 before converting if the JPG is destined for print or will be zoomed, since 150 DPI looks crisp on screen but soft on paper.
- For pages that are mostly black text on white, expect ringing artifacts around the letters at low quality, so keep JPG quality near 90 or choose PNG instead for that page.
- Remember a 10-page PDF yields 10 separate JPG files, one per page, so convert a specific page range when you only need a single page rather than the whole document.

Yes, at 150 DPI or higher the text will be clearly readable. For documents with fine print, we recommend using 300 DPI.
At 300 DPI and above the JPG is visually indistinguishable from the PDF on any normal monitor. Vector text renders perfectly crisp at the chosen DPI. The only situation where sharpness suffers is if you pick a very low DPI (72 or 96) — at that point small text can become hard to read.
