Quality & Compatibility
Image quality inside the PDF is identical to the source JPGs — they are embedded, not re-encoded. File size roughly equals the sum of the JPGs plus a few kilobytes per page of PDF overhead. Page orientation is detected automatically from image dimensions; portrait JPGs get portrait pages. For scans that matter (contracts, IDs) keep the JPG at 300 DPI or higher before converting so the PDF prints at letter size without pixelation.
Tips for Best Results
- Order JPGs by filename before uploading — the PDF preserves that order. Rename scanner outputs 01-front.jpg, 02-back.jpg etc. for predictable results.
- For scans that need OCR (searchable PDFs), pick "Add OCR text layer" in Advanced. This makes the text inside the images searchable in Acrobat and Preview.
- Photos of documents should be captured in good light and cropped tightly before conversion — the PDF embeds the JPG as-is and will not clean up bad lighting.
